29화 먼저 알았던 사람

하윤의 검토 기간이 일주일 남았을 때였다.

은호가 자료실에서 서류를 찾고 있는데 하윤이 들어왔다. 둘만 남은 좁은 방이었다.

"은호 씨."

"네."

"하나 물어봐도 돼요?" 하윤이 서류함을 열며 말했다. "태경이 요즘 좀 괜찮아 보이던데. 무슨 일 있었어요?"

"…네?"

"아니, 3년 전이랑 너무 달라서." 하윤이 담담하게 말했다. "그때는 진짜 안 좋았거든요."

은호는 손에 든 파일을 놓칠 뻔했다.

"그때가… 언제요?"

하윤이 잠깐 은호를 봤다. 그러곤 표정이 미묘하게 바뀌었다.

"…아, 모르시는구나."

그러곤 서류함을 닫았다. "아니에요. 제가 할 얘기가 아니네요."

하윤이 나가고 나서, 은호는 한참 자료실에 서 있었다.

*3년 전에 무슨 일이 있었지.*

그리고 그보다 더 마음에 걸리는 게 있었다.

*저 사람은 알고 있고, 나는 모른다.*

There was a week left in Ms. Ha's review period.

Eunho was looking for documents in the archive room when she came in. It was a small space with just the two of them.

"Eunho."

"Yes?"

"Can I ask you something?" She opened a file drawer. "Taekyung seems to be doing better lately. Did something happen?"

"…Sorry?"

"It's just that he's so different from three years ago." She said it plainly. "It was really bad back then."

Eunho almost dropped the file in his hand.

"Back then… when?"

She looked at him for a moment. Then her expression shifted slightly.

"…Ah. You don't know."

She closed the drawer. "Never mind. It isn't mine to tell."

After she left, Eunho stood in the archive room for a long while.
