3화 사소한 것들

일주일이 지나자 은호는 이 사무실의 규칙 같은 것들을 조금씩 알게 됐다.

복사기는 오후 세 시쯤 항상 종이가 걸린다는 것. 탕비실 커피는 두 번째 칸 것이 낫다는 것. 그리고 태경은 아무리 더워도 소매를 걷지 않는다는 것.

한여름이었다. 다른 사람들이 다 팔을 걷어붙이고 있는 오후에도 태경만은 손목까지 단추를 채우고 있었다.

"안 더우세요?" 무심코 물었을 때, 태경의 손이 아주 잠깐 멈췄다.

"익숙해서요."

짧은 대답이었다. 그런데 그 짧음이, 뭔가를 덮어버리는 듯한 짧음이었다.

After a week, Eunho began to learn the small rules of this office.

That the copier always jams around three in the afternoon. That the coffee in the second cabinet is better. And that Taekyung never rolls up his sleeves, no matter how hot it gets.

It was midsummer. Even in the afternoon, when everyone else had pushed up their sleeves, Taekyung alone kept his buttoned at the wrist.

"Aren't you hot?" Eunho asked without thinking, and Taekyung's hand paused for just a moment.

"I'm used to it."

It was a short answer. But the shortness felt like something being covered over.
