23화 아는 사이

점심시간, 하윤과 태경이 같이 나가는 걸 봤다.

특별한 일은 아니었다. 본사에서 온 사람이니 업무 얘기도 많을 테고, 옛 동료라니 할 말도 많을 것이다. 은호는 그렇게 생각했다.

그런데 오후에 하윤이 은호에게 물었다.

"은호 씨가 계약서에서 기간 문제 찾았다면서요?"

"아, 네."

"잘했어요." 하윤이 서류를 넘기며 말했다. "태경이 그러더라고. 자기가 놓칠 뻔한 걸 잡았다고."

*태경이.*

은호는 그 호칭에 잠깐 멈췄다. 직급도, 씨도 없이 그냥 이름.

"…두 분 친하시네요."

"친하다기보다." 하윤이 잠깐 생각하다 말했다. "그냥 오래 알았어요."

그러곤 덧붙였다. "저 사람, 원래 자기 얘기 잘 안 하잖아요. 근데 은호 씨 얘기는 하더라고요."

은호는 뭐라고 대답해야 할지 몰라서 그냥 웃었다.

그런데 이상하게, 그 말이 기쁘면서도 어딘가 불편했다.

*나는 저 사람에 대해 아직 아는 게 없는데.*

At lunch, he saw Ms. Ha and Taekyung leaving together.

Nothing unusual about it. She was from headquarters, so there would be plenty of work to discuss, and as former colleagues they would have things to catch up on. That was what Eunho told himself.

But in the afternoon, Ms. Ha asked him something.

"I hear you found the term issue in the contract?"

"Ah — yes."

"Well done." She turned a page. "Taekyung said so. That you caught something he almost missed."

*Taekyung.*

Eunho paused at that. No title, no honorific. Just the name.

"…You two are close."

"Close isn't quite it." She thought for a moment. "We've just known each other a long time."

Then she added, "He doesn't talk about himself much, you know. But he talked about you."

Eunho didn't know how to answer, so he just smiled.

And oddly, the remark made him glad and uncomfortable at the same time.

*I still don't know anything about him.*
