34화 지안의 말

2월 중순, 지안이 태경을 회의실로 불렀다.

문이 닫혔다. 은호는 자기 자리에서 그 문을 한 번 봤다.

안에서는 이런 대화가 오갔다.

"태경 씨, 이번 승진 평가에 팀워크 항목이 꽤 크게 들어갔어요."

"들었습니다."

"근데 태경 씨는 워낙 혼자 하는 스타일이잖아." 지안이 서류를 넘겼다. "그래서 말인데. 신입이랑 너무 붙어 다니는 것도, 좋게 안 보일 수 있어요."

태경이 고개를 들었다.

"무슨 뜻입니까."

"말 그대로예요." 지안이 웃었다. "나야 상관없지. 근데 다른 사람들도 그렇게 생각할지는 모르겠네."

"…그건 사적인 감정이 있다는 얘기로 들리는데요."

"내가 그렇게 말했나요?" 지안이 어깨를 으쓱했다. "태경 씨가 그렇게 들었으면, 그게 답인 거고."

회의실 문이 열렸을 때, 태경의 표정은 평소와 다르지 않았다.

다만 그날 오후부터, 태경은 은호와 거리를 두기 시작했다.

The door closed. From his desk, Eunho glanced at it once.

"I've heard."

"But you've always worked alone." She turned a page. "So — spending a lot of time with the new hire might not look good either."

Taekyung looked up.

"What do you mean by that."

"Exactly what I said." She smiled. "It doesn't matter to me. I just don't know whether others will see it the same way."

"…That sounds like you're suggesting there's something personal."

"Did I say that?" She shrugged. "If that's how you heard it, then that's your answer."

When the door opened, Taekyung's expression was no different from usual.

But from that afternoon on, he began keeping his distance from Eunho.
