39화 발표

목요일 아침, 대회의실.

태경이 발표를 시작했다. 첫 슬라이드가 화면에 떴다.

기여자 목록이었다.

강은호. 세 번.

회의실에 있던 사람들이 은호 쪽을 봤다. 은호는 자기가 그 슬라이드를 어제 본 적이 없다는 걸 깨달았다. 밤사이에 바뀐 것이다.

"시장 분석과 전환율 모델링 부분은 강은호 사원이 직접 발표하겠습니다."

태경이 자리로 돌아가 앉았다.

은호는 얼떨떨한 채로 앞에 나갔다. 준비한 적 없는 발표였다. 그런데 자기가 만든 자료였다. 다 알고 있는 내용이었다.

이사회에서 질문이 나왔다. 공급업체 리스크를 어떻게 먼저 발견했느냐고.

"9월 메모에 남겼습니다." 은호가 답했다. "당시엔 외부 보고서에 없던 내용이라 확신이 없었는데, 이 대리님이 확인해보라고 하셨습니다."

앉아 있던 태경이 잠깐 고개를 들었다.

발표가 끝나고 박수가 나왔다.

복도로 나오면서 지안이 태경 옆을 지나가며 말했다.

"이렇게까지 할 줄은 몰랐네요."

"…뭘요."

"본인 평가에 안 좋은 거 알면서."

태경이 짧게 답했다.

"알고 있습니다."

Thursday morning, the main conference hall.

Taekyung began the presentation. The first slide came up.

It was the contributor list.

Kang Eunho. Three times.

The room turned toward Eunho. He realized he had not seen this slide the day before. It had been changed overnight.

"The market analysis and conversion modeling section will be presented by Mr. Kang himself."

Taekyung went back and sat down.

Eunho walked to the front, still dazed. He had not prepared to present. But it was his own material. He knew all of it.

A question came from the board — how had the supplier risk been identified before external reports?

"It's in my September notes," Eunho answered. "At the time it wasn't in any external report, so I wasn't confident. Mr. Lee told me to check it."

Sitting in the audience, Taekyung looked up briefly.

There was applause when it ended.

On the way out, Ms. Kang passed Taekyung in the hallway and said,

"I didn't think you'd go that far."

"…Go how far."

"Knowing it doesn't help your evaluation."

Taekyung answered briefly.

"I know."
