53화 빈자리

4월 30일, 태경의 마지막 출근일이었다.

원래는 28일에 떠날 예정이었는데 항공편을 5월 2일로 바꿨다. 이유는 인수인계 항목이 남아서라고 했다.

그런데 은호가 보기에 인수인계는 이미 다 끝나 있었다.

오전에 태경이 자리를 정리했다. 3년 치 짐인데 상자 두 개가 다였다. 대부분 버리고 갔다.

점심때 부서에서 작별 인사를 했다. 팀장이 짧게 말했고, 사람들이 박수를 쳤고, 태경이 인사했다.

"그동안 감사했습니다."

그게 다였다.

오후 다섯 시쯤, 두 사람만 남았다.

"짐 다 챙기셨어요?"

"네."

"…근데 왜 이틀 더 있으시는 거예요?"

태경이 상자를 내려놨다.

"남은 게 있어서요."

"인수인계는 다 끝났잖아요."

"그거 말고요."

은호가 태경을 봤다.

태경은 빈 책상을 보고 있었다. 3년 동안 앉았던 자리였다.

"…내일 시간 있어요?"

April 30 was Taekyung's last day in the office.

He had originally been scheduled to leave on the 28th but had changed his flight to May 2. The reason given was a remaining handover item.

As far as Eunho could tell, the handover was already complete.

In the morning, Taekyung cleared his desk. Three years of things came to two boxes. He threw out most of it.

At lunch the department said goodbye. The team leader spoke briefly, people applauded, and Taekyung gave his thanks.

"Thank you for everything."

That was all.

Around five, only the two of them were left.

"Have you packed everything?"

"Yes."

"…Then why are you staying two more days?"

Taekyung set down a box.

"There's something left."

"The handover's finished."

"Not that."

Eunho looked at him.

Taekyung was looking at the empty desk. The one he had sat at for three years.

"…Are you free tomorrow?"
