6화 정우

탕비실에서 커피를 타고 있는데 누군가 말을 걸었다.

"신입이죠? 옆 팀 정우예요."

붙임성 좋게 웃는 얼굴이었다. 몇 마디 나누는 사이에 이름도, 부서도, 점심 자주 가는 식당까지 알게 됐다. 이런 사람도 있구나, 싶었다. 첫날부터 손 내밀었다가 민망해진 기억이 아직 남아 있었으니까.

"혹시 이번 주에 저녁 시간 돼요? 신입 환영회 겸."

은호가 뭐라 답하기도 전에, 마침 복도를 지나던 태경이 그 대화를 슬쩍 들었다. 걸음이 아주 잠깐, 정말 잠깐 느려졌다가 이내 아무 일 없다는 듯 지나갔다.

은호는 그 미묘한 정지를 눈치채지 못한 채 정우에게 웃으며 얼버무렸다.

He was making coffee in the break room when someone spoke to him.

"You're the new hire, right? I'm Jungwoo, from the team next door."

He had an easy, friendly smile. Within a few exchanges Eunho knew his name, his department, and the restaurant he went to most often for lunch. *So people like this exist too*, he thought. The memory of holding out his hand on the first day and getting nothing back was still fresh.

"Are you free for dinner this week? A welcome thing for the new hire."

Before Eunho could answer, Taekyung happened to pass through the hallway and caught the exchange. His steps slowed for just a moment — really, just a moment — and then he walked on as if nothing had happened.

Eunho, missing that small pause entirely, smiled and gave Jungwoo a vague answer.
