Click.

At the end of the second-floor hallway, the office door opened quietly, then shut with a heavy sound.

Hangyeol caught his breath and stood before the desk. He had come up exactly on the thirty-minute mark, but his heart was louder now than it had been at the pub.

The story he had heard at the pub sat **lodged** in his throat.

"You're exactly on time."

A low, heavy voice came from behind him.

Before Hangyeol could even turn his head, a cool, woody scent rushed over him. A broad back blocked the light and cut off every way out.

Snap.

The sound of the lock filled the office.

Daniel stretched his long arms out on both sides and **trapped** Hangyeol between the wooden desk and his own body.

"You told me to come up quickly."

Hangyeol answered, forcing strength into his voice.

Daniel let out a short laugh and bent his head down. The distance closed until their noses nearly touched.

"Thirty minutes was too long, Han."

"Daniel."

"Yeah."

"I have something to ask."

**Amber** eyes looked down at Hangyeol. None of the coolness or distance a head chef had to keep was left in them. There was only deep heat.

"Ask."

Hangyeol opened his mouth.

*There was someone named Jungwoo, four years ago, wasn't there.*

The sentence formed in his throat and stopped there.

If he asked, this man would answer. Hangyeol knew that. Tonight, this man had already faced two questions he could have **dodged**, and answered them straight. He had admitted to lying for eight months, and he himself had brought up that he was holding the visa.

So if he asked, an answer would come.

And if the answer came, tonight would end right here.

"...It's nothing."

"Hangyeol."

"It's really nothing."

Daniel looked at him for a moment. His eyes were not the eyes of a man who would back off.

"Did I do something wrong?"

"No."

"Then what is it?"

Hangyeol raised his hand and grabbed the front of Daniel's shirt. It was not a hand that pushed him away, but one that held on.

"Later."

Then, clearly enough to surprise even himself, he went on.

"I don't want to do it today. That talk."

Daniel did not ask again. Instead, what he did was lay his hand over Hangyeol's.

"Then let me say one thing."

Daniel's voice dropped a tone.

His hand cupped Hangyeol's chin gently and held his gaze in place.

"At first you were just a new hire I couldn't stop noticing."

"..."

"But then you pushed into my territory, and started breathing right beside me."

His thumb slowly brushed across Hangyeol's lower lip.

"I wanted to break every rule there was."

Any more argument would have meant nothing.

Hangyeol breathed out hard and set his hand on Daniel's broad shoulder. Daniel did not **hesitate**; he came down and covered Hangyeol's mouth with his own.

Neither the cool air of the kitchen nor the laughter rising from downstairs reached this room anymore.

But somewhere inside Hangyeol, one sentence he had swallowed tonight still remained, whole.

*Who is Jungwoo.*

It was a question he would have to ask someday. Just not today.
